Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday officially inaugurated the online registration portal for the flagship Delhi Lakshmi Yojana scheme. The welfare initiative fulfills a primary election commitment made by the ruling administration, offering financial assistance of 2,500 rupees per month to qualifying women across the national capital territory.

Addressing citizens during the inauguration event, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that the project aims to foster female dignity, financial security, and long term economic self reliance. She confirmed that the state government allocated 5,100 crore rupees toward funding the scheme, with several hundred applicants submitting registrations on opening day.

Under established operational guidelines, women aged between 21 and 60 years whose annual household earnings do not exceed 2.5 lakh rupees are eligible to apply. However, individuals receiving alternative state pensions, government employees, income tax filers, families with four wheelers, or households consuming over 2,400 units of electricity yearly remain excluded.

The financial payout structure mandates that out of the total 2,500 rupees monthly entitlement, 1,500 rupees will be locked into a recurring fixed deposit account for three years. Consequently, beneficiaries will receive 1,000 rupees directly each month via a designated digital currency e-wallet for essential expenses.

Districts across Delhi have activated dedicated verification teams to process online applications efficiently before disbursing inaugural payments. Authorities anticipate that over 17 lakh women will benefit overall.
