A bus carrying over 35 devotees returning from Baba Balak Nath Temple overturned near Shahtalai, killing 2 and injuring nearly two dozen.

A private bus from Punjab, carrying devotees and travelling from the Deotsidh Baba Balak Nath Temple towards Shahtalai, located on the border of Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts, went out of control after 10 o'clock and overturned on the roadside. So far, the deaths of 2 devotees have been confirmed in the accident, while nearly two dozen people are injured. Three of the injured are in critical condition, of whom one has been referred to PGI and two to Medical College Hamirpur. More than 35 people were on board the bus.

It is being reported that all the devotees on the bus were returning towards Shahtalai after having darshan at the Baba Balak Nath Temple in Deotsidh. After the accident, there were cries and screams at the site. Local residents immediately began relief and rescue work and pulled the injured out of the bus. On receiving information about the incident, the team from Talai police station reached the spot and began relief and rescue operations. The injured have been sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. Police have started investigating the causes of the accident. Details, including the identification of the deceased and the number of injured, are being gathered. Further legal action in the matter is underway.
