MC Panchkula Commissioner urges shopkeepers and vendors to maintain cleanliness
Panchkula May 18: The Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Panchkula Sh Vinay Kumar has appealed to all street vendors, shopkeepers, and businessmen across the city to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation in and around their establishments by keeping separate dustbins for use by their customers and disposing of waste in a scientific and hygienic manner.
The Commissioner emphasized that indiscriminate littering and dumping of garbage on roadsides, markets, public places, and open areas not only spoils the city’s environment but also creates serious sanitation and public health concerns. All commercial establishments have been directed to strictly adhere to the sanitation guidelines issued by the Municipal Corporation and cooperate in maintaining cleanliness across Panchkula, he added.
Sh Vinay Kumar further stated that shopkeepers and vendors must ensure that waste generated from their establishments is collected and disposed of only in designated dustbins and not thrown in the open. Citizens visiting markets should also be encouraged to use dustbins for disposal of wrappers, cups, bottles, and other waste material.
The Commissioner warned that any non-compliance with the cleanliness norms and sanitation instructions may invite strict action under the applicable rules and regulations, including imposition of penalties, confiscation of goods, and sealing of shops or establishments wherever required.
He reiterated Municipal Corporation’s commitment towards making Panchkula a clean, hygienic, and environmentally responsible city and sought active participation and cooperation from all stakeholders in this public cause.
