INDIAN ARMY FLAGS OFF ‘SURYA GREEN HIMALAYAN ODYSSEY’ EV EXPEDITION TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY ACROSS HIMALAYAN REGION

Chandigarh; 11 June 2026: An Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Expedition titled “Surya Green Himalayan Odyssey” is being organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with Tata Motors. The expedition aims to promote sustainable mobility, foster national integration, project the valour and dedication of Indian Army soldiers, and enhance civil-military outreach while traversing some of the most challenging and strategically significant regions of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. The initiative also seeks to promote awareness on environmental conservation and green energy adoption.

The 11-day expedition will commence from Kasauli on 12 June 2026 and culminate at Leh on 22 June 2026. The expedition will showcase the capability and reliability of electric vehicles in some of the most challenging Himalayan and border terrains, highlighting their potential for sustainable mobility in remote and high-altitude regions.

The expedition will be flagged off by the GOC-in-C, Central Command from Kasauli on 12th June 2026 at 6 am and will be flagged in at Leh on 22nd June 2026.

The initiative aims to promote awareness, inspire active civil participation and strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and the people. The expedition will highlight the Indian Army’s role in nation building, fostering economic growth in border areas and inspiring the youth, while generating greater public awareness of the strategic significance and developmental potential of the Himalayan region.
