Chandigarh, 2nd May, 2026: Chandigarh Traffic Police under the leadership of Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, Director General of Police, U.T. Chandigarh, and under the guidance of Sh. Pushpendra Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, U.T. Chandigarh, and Sh. Sumer Partap Singh, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (Security & Traffic), and under the close supervision of Sh. Lakshay Pandey, DANIPS, DSP/Traffic (R&D) Road Safety, continues its efforts towards enhancing traffic management and ensuring public safety.

As part of its ongoing initiatives to promote effective policing and professionalism, a specialized workshop was organized today for Traffic Police personnel at the Traffic Auditorium, Sector-29, Chandigarh. The workshop aimed to enhance people-friendly communication, soft skills, public dealing, and to promote positive behavioral changes among personnel.

Approximately 150 participants, including police officers and officials from Traffic Wing, attended the session. Dr. Parvesh Sharma, Inspector, I/C CTP, and Insp. Surinder Kumar, Inspector Traffic Administration, emphasized the importance of effective communication and positive behavioral transformation during public interactions.

The training sessions were enriched by the expertise of eminent speakers including Prof. Jyoti Seith, Former Principal, Government College of Commerce; Mr. Avninder Chopra, Former Head of Department, English, DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh; and Mrs. Neeraj Aggarwal, Former Head of Department, English, Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh.

The workshop focused on enhancing both verbal and non-verbal communication skills, promoting smart policing, fostering empathy, and encouraging professionalism during public interactions. Key topics included conflict resolution, handling difficult situations, and adopting behavioral change strategies to strengthen police-public relations during traffic duties.

In addition to theoretical inputs, interactive group exercises were conducted on police-public interaction and communication skills. Participants also shared real-life challenges faced during their duties, making the session highly engaging and practical. The workshop was widely appreciated by both participants and speakers.

This workshop is part of the Chandigarh Traffic Police's ongoing initiative to improve public dealing and foster a more positive and professional image of law enforcement in the city.
