India's total telecom subscriber base rose marginally to 134.8 crore in June 2026, marking a 0.37 percent monthly growth from 134.31 crore. Data from TRAI shows market growth remains heavily concentrated among top private operators, with overall wireless connections expanding to reach 130 crore connections.

Bharti Airtel led the industry by adding 31.63 lakh new subscribers in June, including 29.89 lakh mobile and 1.73 lakh fixed line users. Reliance Jio followed with 22.91 lakh net additions, comprising 21.46 lakh mobile connections and 1.44 lakh wireline subscribers during the month.

Together, Airtel and Jio captured 54.54 lakh of the 62 lakh net subscribers added nationwide, commanding roughly 87 percent of total growth. Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea added 1.63 lakh wireless users, and public sector BSNL gained 94,006 subscribers, while MTNL lost 11,284 mobile connections.

The wireline segment contracted by 1.67 percent to 4.78 crore subscribers in June, down from 4.86 crore in May. This drop was primarily driven by BSNL losing 7.96 lakh landline users, despite positive fixed line growth reported by Airtel, Reliance Jio, and STPL.

India's overall broadband base expanded to 108.75 crore subscribers in June from 108 crore in May. Reliance Jio maintained its market dominance with 53.22 crore broadband customers, followed by Bharti Airtel with 37.99 crore, Vodafone Idea with 13 crore, and state operator BSNL with 2.7 crore active broadband users.
