529 Govt Companies Appoint Women Directors, 179 Still Without Representation
Out of 708 government-owned companies required to have at least one woman director on their boards, 179 currently have none. The Companies Act, 2013, makes it mandatory for certain public and listed companies to include at least one female director.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra reported that 529 companies have appointed at least one woman director, while the remaining 179 have not complied with the requirement.
