Experts highlight that June set a new benchmark, with a daily average of 75.7 crore transactions, the highest since the platform's inception.
India’s digital payment landscape continues to evolve, as indicated by the latest data from the National Payments Corporation of India. While the total value of UPI transactions in June adjusted to 28.9 lakh crore rupees, slightly lower than the record 29.9 lakh crore rupees in May, the platform remains a dominant force. Transaction volumes reached 22.72 billion in June, reflecting consistent market activity.
The scope of this digital revolution has expanded far beyond Indian borders. UPI is now operational in over eight countries, including Singapore, France, the UAE, Nepal, and Qatar. This international integration establishes India as a global leader in digital payments, facilitating smoother cross-border remittances and enhancing financial inclusion on a worldwide scale.
Behind this robust infrastructure is the National Payments Corporation of India, an initiative involving the Reserve Bank of India and the Indian Banks’ Association. This institution oversees India's retail payment and settlement systems, ensuring that UPI operates efficiently for millions of users, whether they are transferring funds to individuals or making real-time payments to local merchants.
Industry experts remain optimistic despite monthly fluctuations. In just twelve months, UPI has recorded an increase of over 4.3 billion transactions and a value growth of approximately five lakh crore rupees. This surge highlights the deep-rooted trust and reliance citizens place in digital payment systems for daily financial management.
Experts highlight that June set a new benchmark, with a daily average of 75.7 crore transactions, the highest since the platform's inception. This daily record confirms that UPI has become the preferred method for micro-payments across the nation. By processing 22.7 billion transactions, the platform demonstrates the rapid speed at which India’s digital payment ecosystem is maturing, solidifying its essential role in the modern economy.
