Meesho Launches Voice Shopping Feature ‘Vaani’, Reports 22% Increase in Orders
A pilot project by Meesho has shown a 22 percent jump in orders after introducing voice-based shopping, highlighting how artificial intelligence could reshape online buying behaviour in India. The company also reported a decline in cancellations and returns during the trial phase.
The experiment, conducted in February 2026, saw participation from around 15 lakh users, offering early signs that simplifying user interaction can improve both sales and customer confidence on digital platforms.
At the centre of this push is “Meesho Vaani,” an AI-powered assistant that allows users to search for products, ask questions and complete purchases through voice commands. Instead of relying on typing or navigating filters, customers can interact with the app in a more natural, conversational way.
The initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to reach a large untapped market. Meesho estimates that nearly 50 crore potential users in India remain outside the e-commerce ecosystem, often due to language barriers or unfamiliarity with app-based interfaces.
Currently available in Hindi and English, the feature is expected to expand to more regional languages over time. Backed by investors such as SoftBank, the company is focusing on voice technology as a way to make online shopping more accessible and drive future growth.
