Paris Olympics 2024 Day 6: Indian Archers, Shuttlers Eyeing Medals, Lovlina Reaches Quarterfinal

Paris Olympics 2024 Day 5 Result Updates: After India's Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal in the 10m Air Piston Mixed Team event on Day 5, India's shooter Swapnil Kusale has raised medal hopes as he has qualified for the final while boxer Lovline Borgohain has reached the quarterfinals, which means Lovlina would assure a medal if she manages to win her next match.

On the other hand, Indian Badminton players PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen have reached the knockouts with their victory on Thursday. While PV Sidhu defeated Estonia's Kristin Kuuba in her last group-stage match, Lakshya defeated World No. 3 Jonatan Cristie to enter the knockouts.

Likewise, Table Tennis player Sreeja Akula, who is also celebrating her birthday today, treated herself with a victory to enter the Round of 16, the second woman player to do so after Manika Batra who scripted history in this edition of the Olympics.

Simultaneously, Lovlina Borgohain, the Bronze Medalist of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, made the nation proud as she defeated Norway's boxer to enter the quarterfinals of the 75kg category. Her next win will assure India of a medal.

Besides, Indian Archer Dipika Kumari entered the Round of 16 as she defeated the Netherlands archer in a close encounter. Now, all eyes are on Dipika and Bhajan Kaur who have reached the Round of 16. India has high hopes for both of them.

Unfortunately, Manika Batra, who recently scripted history as she became the first Indian to the reach the round of 16 in the history of Olympics, lost her match against Japan's Miu Hirano. Although she has been eliminated from the tournament, she has given a rise of hope for the youth that nothing is impossible in table tennis.

On the contrary, India's Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh failed to secure a spot in the finals of the Women's Trap event of shooting while Indian rower Balraj Panwar finished 6th in the semifinal SC/D Men's Sculls and advanced to Final D where he can only improve his ranking. In Equestrian, India's Anush Agarwalla failed to secure the top 2 spots and lost the battle.
