Virat Kohli's Deepfake Video Commenting on Shubman Gill Goes Viral, People Call AI 'Dangerous'

Virat Kohli on Shubman Gill Deepfake Viral Video: The Indian cricket world has been abuzz with ongoing comparisons between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. While many consider Kohli the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), others still believe that the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, holds the title of the best batter to have ever played for India.

Recently, a new name has entered this debate: Shubman Gill. At just 24 years old, Gill has already impressed fans and cricket experts alike with his exceptional technique and a series of remarkable performances.

Though still early in his career, many view Gill as the next big star in Indian cricket. A deepfake video circulating on X (formerly known as Twitter) has sparked a significant discussion, falsely portraying Kohli as taking a jab at Gill.

In the edited video, Kohli is heard saying there’s a “big gap between showing promise and becoming a legend.”

The clip also falsely depicts Kohli comparing himself to Sachin Tendulkar, with the former Indian captain supposedly saying, “I’ve been watching Gill closely. He’s talented, no doubt. But there’s a big gap between showing promise and becoming a legend. Gill’s technique is solid. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. People talk about the next Virat Kohli, but let me be clear, there’s only one Virat Kohli.”

Fans quickly responded to the video, with many pointing out that it had been edited. One user commented, “I would know even half-asleep that this is not how Virat talks and it’s not even his voice.”
