Virat Kohli to Play One More Vijay Hazare Trophy Match; Rohit Sharma Wraps Up Domestic Season

Virat Kohli is set to participate in one more match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy before joining the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, a Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) official said.

Kohli will make a rare appearance in India’s premier domestic 50-over competition after more than 15 years. He starred for Delhi with an impressive 131 against Andhra Pradesh and 77 against Gujarat early in the tournament. He missed Delhi’s recent league game against Saurashtra but is expected to return for the penultimate league match against Railways on January 6 at the KSCA ground in Alur before he reports for national duty.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed that Rohit Sharma has completed his domestic duties for the season. He scored a century in Mumbai’s opener and was dismissed for a duck in his second game. With his Vijay Hazare campaign concluded, Rohit is set to focus on preparation for India’s ODI series beginning January 11.

Kohli and Rohit’s return to domestic cricket followed a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) directive urging contracted players to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to remain match-ready for international selection.
