Indian Shooters Clinch Victory, Setting a World Record in Men's 10m Air Rifle Event

NEW-DELHI: The Asian Games 2023, hosted in Hangzhou, China, commenced with a remarkable start for India on the second day. Indian shooters, showcasing exceptional skill and precision, secured the country's first gold medal in the prestigious event. The triumphant trio of Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Divyansh Singh demonstrated their prowess, bringing home the coveted gold for Team India.

India has shown exceptional performance in the ongoing Asian Games, already clinching a total of seven medals. The achievements began to unfold on the first day itself, with the country securing a remarkable five medals. Following the historic gold win, India continued their medal haul, adding a bronze to their collection on the second day.

In a groundbreaking performance, India shattered the world record in the men's 10m air rifle event, surpassing China with a total of 1893.7 points, while China secured 1893.3 points. This feat placed India at the top of the leaderboard, showcasing their exceptional marksmanship. Korea secured the second position with 1890.1 marks, and China stood third with 1888.2 marks.

India's success story is not confined to shooting alone. The country has made its mark in rowing as well, clinching medals in various events. Mehul Ghosh, Ashi Chokse, and Ramita Jindal exhibited their prowess and secured silver in the 10m air rifle team event. Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh also secured a silver in rowing, further adding to India's glory. In the men's coxless doubles event, Babu Lal and Lekh Ram displayed exemplary teamwork, earning a bronze medal. Furthermore, Ramita Jindal showcased her skill by securing a bronze in the women's 10m air rifle shooting event.
