Hardik Pandya led the team of five-time champions in IPL 2024 on Sunday (March 24). Started his tenure as captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Hardik Pandya played against his former franchise Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Pandya, who hails from Baroda in Gujarat, was booed by the Ahmedabad crowd during the toss. After Shubhman Gill's coin toss, Hardik-led MI decided to bowl first. Hardik also had a tough time during his performance in front of the crowd in Ahmedabad.
The all-rounder was not sold by the MI camp ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auction. He joined the Gujarat camp and led the team to the title in his first season in 2022. However, ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction, Hardik returned to MI in the trade window and was appointed captain.
The sudden change left everyone shocked. Recently, during a press conference, Hardik Pandya and Mumbai Indians' head coach were asked about what made them take such a big step. To this, both of them kept their mum as if they didn't have an answer to it.
