CHANDIGARH: The Government said that 31 Residential sports academies will be established across the Haryana state. Karnal and Ambala will have maximum three academies each. The government will provide coaches to the players. The existing day boarding academies have also been converted into residential academies.

Sports Director Pankaj Nain said that a State Center of Excellence will be established in Panchkula for three sports. These will include private coaches, physiotherapists, doctors etc. Nurseries are being established at every village and block level, through which the players will be taken to the academy.

There will be trials for admission to the academy from March 31 in Shahabad for hockey, Football in Bhuna, Boxing in Bhiwani, Swimming in Ambala, Wrestling in Rohtak, Volleyball in Gurugram, fencing in Karnal, Taekwondo and TT in Panchkula, Archery in Faridabad, Judo in Jhajjar, Dadri. Trials will be held on April 1 for Handball in Ambala. Athletics trials will be held on April 3 in Jind and weightlifting trials on April 6 in Yamunanagar.
