IPL 2024 Auction Mitchell Starc Latest News: In a historic turn of events at the IPL 2024 Auction, the cricketing world witnessed Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc break the record of Pat cummins and claim the title of the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a bold move by acquiring Starc for a staggering Rs 24.75 crores, eclipsing the previous record held by Pat Cummins.

The bidding war for Starc unfolded over a couple of intense hours, with multiple franchises vying for the services of the World Cup-winning speedster. Eventually, it was Kolkata Knight Riders who emerged victorious, securing Starc's prowess to bolster their bowling arsenal.

Pat Cummins, who led Australia to World Cup glory in 2023, found himself in the midst of a fierce bidding war as well. SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched the World Cup-winning captain for a substantial Rs 20.50 crores. The bidding tussle involved heavyweights like Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Hyderabad franchise.

SRH strategically targeted Cummins to fortify their bowling department, recognizing his leadership skills and exceptional performance during Australia's triumphs in the World Test Championship 2023 and the ODI World Cup in November. 

The auction also witnessed other significant deals, with Chennai Super Kings spending Rs 14 crores on Daryl Mitchell, and making additional acquisitions in Rachin Ravindra. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings secured the services of Harshal Patel and Chris Woakes, further intensifying the competition among the franchises for top-notch talent.
