Led by leg-spinner Adam Zampa's brilliant performance of four wickets for 47 runs and skipper Pat Cummins' impactful two wickets for 32 runs, Australia's bowlers set the stage for their aggressive batting.

After restricting Sri Lanka to 209 runs in 43.3 overs, Australia chased down the target, reaching 215 runs for the loss of five wickets in just 35.2 overs. Openers Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis displayed exceptional performances, both scoring half-centuries, with Marsh securing 52 off 51 balls and Inglis contributing 58 off 59 balls. Glenn Maxwell's unbeaten 31 off 21 balls and Marnus Labuschagne's 40 off 60 balls further bolstered Australia's chase.

Sri Lanka started strong with openers Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka forming a formidable partnership, amassing 125 runs off 130 balls. Perera scored an impressive 78 runs, hitting 12 fours, while Nissanka contributed 61 runs with eight fours. However, their innings faltered after the partnership was broken, ultimately leading to Sri Lanka's defeat.

Australian opener Mitchell Marsh showcased aggressive batting from the onset, displaying exceptional resilience despite the early dismissals of David Warner and former captain Steve Smith. Marsh's assertive stance and crucial contributions set the tone for Australia's victory. The partnership between Labuschagne and Inglis proved pivotal, with Inglis adopting an aggressive approach against Sri Lankan bowlers.
