India Removed Coach Abhishek Nayar and Fielding Coach T Dilip After Unimpressive Australia Tour, Latest News:

Following a disappointing performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, India has removed assistant batting coach Abhishek Nayar, fielding coach T Dilip, and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai, ANI reported.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was held from November 2024 to January 2025 in Australia. The hosts won the five-match Test series 3–1, reclaiming the trophy for the first time in a decade.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli faced criticism for their underwhelming performances during the series and for a disappointing 2024–25 Test season overall.

India began the series with a historic win in Perth — their first-ever Test victory at that venue. However, they failed to maintain momentum, resulting in Australia winning three Tests. One match was drawn or ended without a result.

Abhishek Nayar’s role came under scrutiny as the Board was reportedly unhappy with the visible ‘Kolkata Knight Riders touch’ in the team’s management approach. Nayar, a former Indian all-rounder, has long been associated with KKR’s coaching staff in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

BCCI has not issued any official confirmation yet.
