The match turned out to be even more special because of the forceful absence of Argentina's star player Lionel Messi who got his ankle injured during the match.
The first half of the game turned out to be competitive as the 2022 World Cup winners could not break Colombia's defense and the match remained goalless in 90 minutes of play.
While playing the final against Colombia, Lionel Messi got himself injured in the first half of the game and after he was brought down by a Colombian defender. The medical team rushed onto the field and quickly checked him. He suffered an ankle injury. Despite this, he returned to the field but fate had other plans in store. He faced a problem with the injured ankle again in the second half.
Hence, the medical staff took him off the field and he was replaced by Nicolas Gonzalez. As he left the field, Messi started crying as Argentina had to continue the summit clash without him.
