PCB CEO Left Out at ICC Final; PCB May Take Up Issue with ICC latest news: On Sunday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) failed to invite its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sumair Ahmed, to the stage during the closing ceremony of the ICC Trophy in Dubai.
It is reported that Sumair Ahmed, who was representing Pakistan, was present at the ceremony but was not invited to the stage, where medals, trophies, and jackets were distributed to the players. Reportedly, no representative from Pakistan was present on the stage.
Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar has also raised concerns over the absence of PCB officials at the closing ceremony.
In a video statement, Akhtar said, “India has won the ICC Champions Trophy, and I saw something strange—no representative from the Pakistan Cricket Board was present on stage.
Pakistan is set to host the next Champions Trophy, yet no PCB official was there. This is beyond my understanding. Why did nobody come to represent Pakistan or present a trophy? Think about it—this is a world stage, and you should have been there. But I could not see any PCB member out there.”
He further added, “This tournament was hosted by us, and yet nobody from our side came forward. Think about it. It feels disappointing to see this.”
The reason for his exclusion has not been ascertained yet. Reports suggest that it could be due to a misunderstanding, or the CEO might not have been able to communicate properly with the ICC official responsible for organizing the closing ceremony, resulting in his absence from the stage.
Therefore, there are speculations that the PCB may take up this matter with the ICC.
