Tamil Nadu’s and Maharashtra’s Players Lift Titles at 30th Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship: Tamil Nadu’s Manish Sureshkumar and Maharashtra’s Vaishnavi Adkar lifted the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, at the 30th Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship held at the DLTA Complex, PTI reported.
In the men’s final, Tamil Nadu’s Manish Sureshkumar defeated Keerthivassan Suresh 6-4, 6-2 in a two-hour contest.
Talking about his game, Sureshkumar stated, “I feel really good because I won this event back in 2022. It always feels great to win the nationals. I played a couple of close matches this week. To be honest, I was not expecting to win this tournament. I came with zero expectations and kept fighting in every match. Even today, I was struggling physically, but I managed to push myself. I’m really glad to have got the job done."
Looking ahead in his career, Sureshkumar added, “The goal is to play more ITF tournaments now, as many as possible, to improve my ranking. This tournament gives me a lot of confidence going forward, and I am really looking forward to the upcoming international tournaments.”
In the women’s final, Vaishnavi Adkar outplayed Akanksha Nitture 6-1, 6-2 to claim her maiden Fenesta Open title. “Winning the Fenesta Open is a big achievement. It’s something every Indian kid dreams about. It feels surreal to have won the title today. I’m very happy,” she said.
Looking ahead, she said, “I recently had to take a break because of my injury, but I performed very well in this tournament. It’s going to boost my confidence and self-belief overall. I’m going to treat this as a stepping stone for all my future tournaments. My goal is to improve my WTA ranking.”
Talking about her recent injury, she added, “Coming into this tournament, until the very last minute, I was not sure if I would be able to play as the pain was still there. But once I started playing, I felt much better. I feel very confident now, both with the pain and with my overall game.”
