Gill's current health condition has raised apprehensions about his participation and performance in the crucial match scheduled for Sunday. If Gill is unable to play, it is likely that Ishan Kishan may be given the opportunity to open the innings.

Shubman Gill, one of India's most successful batsmen in ODI cricket, has reportedly been battling high fever in recent days. Sources reveal that he has tested positive for dengue, adding to India's concerns. A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source, requesting anonymity, stated, "Shubman has been suffering from high fever ever since he arrived in Chennai. He has been tested, and further tests are scheduled for today. A decision regarding his participation in the first match will be made based on the results." Typically, dengue patients require seven to ten days for a complete recovery.
