NEW-DELHI: Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who has won medals for the country in major events like Olympic Games, World Championship and Diamond League, has achieved another feat. Neeraj has scripted history by becoming the first Indian player to win a second consecutive gold medal in the Diamond League.

25-year-old Neeraj threw the javelin 88.67 meters in his first attempt in the men's javelin throw event final in Doha. It turned out to be Neeraj's gold medal winning performance. Neeraj has won the first medal of the year 2023.

Neeraj threw the javelin to a distance of 89.94 meters in the Stockholm Diamond League last year. But this time he started with 88.67m, followed by 86.04m. After throwing 85.47 meters in the third round, he fouled in the fourth round. In the fifth round, Neeraj cleared a distance of 84.37 meters and won the gold medal.
