ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Canada vs USA: WC Opener Opens the Fizz!

ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Canada vs USA: If T20 World Cup 2024 was a bottle of Soda, then the Opener (match) — USA vs Canada — successfully opened the fizz. What a match it was!!! United States won the toss and opted to field first after which Canada posted a huge total of 194 runs on the board courtesy of Navneet Dhaliwal's spectacular innings of 61 runs off 44 balls.

Well, the target was 195 off 120 balls. Canada seemed confident and started with quick wickets. Canada's Kaleem Sana dismissed USA's Steven Taylor for a duck and Dillon Heyliger dismissed Monank Patel in the first powerplay. Canada gained more confidence and was celebrating unless Andries Gous and Aaron Jones showed up.

Andries Gous played a sensible innings of 65 runs off 46 balls while Aaron Jones played explosive innings of 94 runs off 40 balls, including 10 sixes and 4 boundaries.

It was a huge explosion and so was the impact. The USA chased down 194 in just 17.4 overs. From 42-2 at 6.3 overs to 197-3 in just 17.4 overs, the USA showed a masterclass and opened their World Cup campaign with a win. With this, the USA has climbed the Group A chart to the top.
