Punjabi Diaspora: Upset with Canada, Hundreds of Students Return Home

Punjabi Diaspora: Many young people who once left Punjab for Canada in search of a better future are now either returning home or moving to other countries. Going to Canada was once considered the top choice for improving one's prospects, however, the situation there has now become increasingly challenging.

Due to unemployment, the condition of students is bad in the country. In Canada, while local residents are also grappling with unemployment, immigrants are facing even tougher conditions, with students experiencing the most severe hardships due to both unemployment and inflation. It's estimated that around 100 students from Bathinda district alone have returned home after leaving Canada.

One such international student shared his disillusionment with Canada upon his return. He revealed that he had spent Rs 25 lakh in hopes of a promising future, only to find that the reality did not match his expectations.

The primary issue is that when jobs are available, the wages are insufficient.

Another student said that he was confident in his academic abilities and believed that studying in Canada would ensure a bright future. However, upon arriving there, he discovered that his qualifications were not valued as he had hoped.
