PM Narendra Modi Engages with Sikh Delegation During New York Visit

PM Narendra Modi in New York: During his recent visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with a delegation of prominent Sikh community members in New York. The Sikh leaders expressed their appreciation for various initiatives taken by Modi's government in support of the community. The meeting, described by attendees as cordial and uplifting, focused on the positive relationship between the Indian government and the Sikh diaspora.

Jasdip Singh Jassee from the Sikhs of America organization shared his enthusiasm after the discussion, stating, “The atmosphere was overwhelmingly positive. As soon as the Prime Minister entered the room, we greeted him with the traditional Sikh chant ‘Jo Bole So Nihal,’ to which he responded with ‘Sat Sri Akaal.’”

Wisconsin-based Sikh leader Darshan Singh Dhaliwal also attended the meeting and engaged in meaningful dialogue with the Prime Minister. Reflecting on the interaction, Jassee noted, “We had an excellent discussion. Prime Minister Modi has accomplished a lot for the Sikh community.”

Jassee further highlighted Modi's contributions, including the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, celebrating Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary, the removal of the blacklist preventing Sikh individuals from visiting India, and efforts to bring justice to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

In conclusion, Jassee expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his work and emphasized plans for further meetings, congratulating him on his highly successful U.S. visit.
