a local youth from Bhagoarayan village in the Sultanpur Lodhi constituency of Kapurthala district died in a tragic road accident in the United States, the Babushahi reported.
The deceased, Gurminder Singh, 31, son of Jarnail Singh, had migrated to the U.S. in 2018 in search of better career prospects. Fondly known as Gurminder Cheema, he had built a life for himself overseas and remained deeply connected to his roots back home.
The fatal incident took place in Ridley, United States, while Gurminder was out for an evening walk. He was reportedly struck from behind by two vehicles in what is being treated as a case of suspected negligent driving, the report said, citing sources.
Despite the swift response of emergency services and immediate medical attention, Gurminder tragically succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
His sudden death has plunged his family and the entire village into deep grief. Unmarried at the time, Gurminder’s family had been in the process of arranging his marriage, looking forward to the next chapter in his life—a dream now cruelly cut short.
Local leaders and community members have visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and express solidarity during this heartbreaking time.
