Canadian Delegation Reaffirms Commitment to Sikh Values During Visit to Sri Harmandir Sahib
Three Canadian Members of Parliament, Jasraj Singh Hallan, Amanpreet Singh Gill, and Dalwinder Singh Gill paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib on Saturday. The visiting delegation bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib, offering prayers at the central Sikh shrine.
Following their visit, the MPs were honoured at the Information Centre by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. The ceremony was attended by senior Akali leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema and SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan.
Expressing their gratitude, the MPs described the visit as a spiritual blessing. They highlighted their pride in serving the public while maintaining their Sikh identity and the turban, in line with the Guru’s philosophy.
A poignant moment was shared when they recalled that their oath-taking ceremony in Canada coincided with the anniversary of the Komagata Maru incident, a memory they say strengthens their dedication to service.
Advocate Dhami lauded the MPs for their success in global politics while remaining rooted in Sikh ethics. He noted that Punjabis, particularly Sikhs in Canada, have reached influential positions through hard work and honesty.
Dhami assured that the SGPC would continue to support the promotion of Sikh values and identity abroad, calling the young MPs an inspiration for the Sikh youth worldwide.
