Sikh Man Attacked Outside Gurdwara in LA with Golf Club, California, US Latest News
A 70-year-old Sikh man was brutally attacked outside a gurdwara in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has arrested an individual in connection with the case, the Hindustan Times Reported.
The suspect, now arrested, Bo Richard Vitagliano, 44, is reported to be a homeless, who attacked Harpal Singh, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed.
Police used surveillance camera footage to track down the suspect.
The incident occurred last Monday, when Harpal Singh, 70, was out on a walk. He was brutally beaten with a golf club near the Sikh Gurdwara of LA, in the area of Lankershim Boulevard and Saticoy Street.
The attack, police said, started following an argument between the attacker and Singh.
"Witnesses advised that they did not see how the altercation began, but heard a loud commotion, then witnessed two men swinging metal objects at each other," police said in a news release as quoted in the HT report.
"Both individuals were struck. The suspect further assaulted the victim while he was reportedly on the ground. Witnesses intervened by yelling at the suspect, at which time he rode away on his bicycle."
The suspect, Bo Richard Vitagliano, has an extensive criminal record, the report said. He has been charged, in the past, with a ‘deadly weapon, narcotics, and possession of several weapons’.
