Soumitra Chatterjee to receive Legion d'Honneur
Kolkata: Thespian Soumitra Chatterjee has been conferred with the highest French civlian honour, the Legion d'Honneur. "I am happy and it is a great honour. I got the letter from the French Embassy yesterday and they said they will be coming over here to give me the award. I communicated to them that we will decide on a mutually convenient date," Chatterjee told PTI.
Kansas man charged with hate crime for killing Indian techie
Washington: Adam Purinton, a US Navy veteran accused of killing Indian techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla and injuring two others at a suburban Kansas City bar, has been indicted on federal hate crime and firearms charges. The indictment OF Purinton, 51, of Olathe, Kansas, by a federal grand jury comes after the February 22 shooting at the city bar.
Suicide bomber kills 20 in market south of Baghdad
Hilla: A suicide bomber today blew himself up in a market in the town of Musayyib, south of Baghdad, killing at least 20 people, medical and security sources said. At least 34 other people were wounded in the attack in the centre of Musayyib, a town that lies about 60 kilometres south of the capital, a police officer and a medic at the local hospital said. "A suicide bomber blew himself up in Musayyib market, causing 20 civilian martyrs," an interior ministry spokesman said.
Nepal honours Indian who climbed Everest for record 6 times
Kathmandu: Nepal has felicitated an Indian who became the first person from the country to summit Mount Everest for a record six times. Love Raj Singh Dharmashaktu, a Padma Shri recipient who hails from Uttarakhand, was honoured at a function organised by Adventure Sports Tourism Society in Lalitpur Metropolitan City near here yesterday. Dharmashaktu was appointed a Tourism Ambassador of Nepal to north India during the function.
Knifeman holding hostages at job centre in northeast England

New Delhi: Iran has released 25 Indian fishermen, who had been detained with their Bahraini boats since March, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said. The fishermen, hailing from Tamil Nadu, have been repatriated to Bahrain.
