UK News: 2 Dead, Nine Injured in Southport Stabbing Incident; Suspect in Custody

Merseyside Police provided an update , stating: "A 17-year-old male from Banks, arrested in connection with today’s stabbing in Southport, remains in custody and will be questioned. We also confirm that the incident is not currently being treated as terror-related."

On Monday, two people were killed and nine others were injured in a stabbing incident in Southport, northwest England. The incident occurred at a property on Hart Street around 11:50 a.m. local time, according to an earlier statement from the police.

"Armed police have detained a male suspect and seized a knife. He has been taken to a police station," the police stated. They assured the public that there is no ongoing risk.

Cciting the North West Ambulance Service, reported that paramedics treated eight individuals for stab wounds. The injured were transported to Aintree University Hospital, Southport and Formby Hospital, and Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The police also confirmed that the incident is not being investigated as terror-related and that no additional suspects are being sought.
