US Washington Plane Crash Latest News Today: On January 29, 2025, a destructive mid-aircrash occurred near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, involving American Airlines Flight 5342, a Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet operated by PSA Airlines, and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. The jet, which had departed from Wichita, Kansas, and was carrying  60 passengers and four crew members, collided with the helicopter during its approach to the airport.

The crash caused both aircraft to crash into the Potomac River, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation. As of now, 19 bodies have been recovered from the river, and efforts are ongoing to locate any remaining victims.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are leading the investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The helicopter was on a training flight with three soldiers aboard, none of whom were senior officials.
