Pakistan Condemns Attacks on Christians and Muslims in India; Urges World to Take note
Tahir Andrabi urged the international community to take note of these developments and to take appropriate steps.
News: Pakistan on Monday condemned incidents of vandalism during Christmas and violence against Muslims in India.
Responding to media queries on Monday, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Andrabi, called the alleged persecution of minorities in India “a matter of deep concern.”
“Recent condemnable incidents of vandalism during Christmas, as well as state-sponsored campaigns targeting Muslims — including the demolition of their homes and repeated lynchings, notably the case of Muhammad Akhlaq, in which the state worked to shield the perpetrators from accountability — have deepened fear and alienation among Muslims,” the spokesperson said in the response.
“The list of such victims is sadly long,” he added.
Tahir Andrabi urged the international community to take note of these developments and to take appropriate steps to help protect the fundamental rights of vulnerable communities in India.
