Seven Indian have been arrested with a cache of drugs and a US-made pistol from Biratnagar near Nepal's border with India, police said today

Kathmandu: Seven Indian have been arrested with a cache of drugs and a US-made pistol from Biratnagar near Nepal's border with India, police said today.    

Binod Yadav, 30, a resident of Araria Batanaha in Bihar and his six accomplice from Biratnagar were arrested yesterday, they said, adding the police have also recovered a US made automatic pistol and six live bullets from them.

Three motorbikes, six mobile phones, Rs 81,000 in cash, 1,775 ampules of avil, 500 ampule of dyzelyab, 1,776 tablets of spasmo proxivan and 725 nitrosane tablets have also been recovered, they added. Further investigation is on, police said. In a separate incident, a Chinese national has been arrested for allegedly smuggling gold into the country.     

Zezhong, 40, was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday after he landed in Kathmandu from China.       The arrest of Chinese national came after the police nabbed five Nepalese citizens for allegedly being involved in smuggling of gold. Police had arrested 27-year-old Pembar Dorje of Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district and recovered 14-kg gold from him.

Acting on a tip-off, they arrested four more Nepalese citizens, involved in smuggling of gold, and recovered 7-kg of yellow metal, The Chinese national is said to be the mastermind of the smuggling racket, they said. PTI
