'Canada Dropped Goldy Brar from Wanted List', Says Recalled Indian High Commissioner

India Canada Latest News, Goldy Brar Most Wanted: Recalled Indian High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, recently criticized Canada's approach to extremism, specifically highlighting the removal of criminal Goldy Brar from Canada’s “Most Wanted” list, even though India had sought his extradition. Verma shared details with ANI, revealing that while the RCMP did not officially maintain a “wanted list,” a civic organization called "Bolo" did, previously including Brar before he mysteriously disappeared from it.

Verma pointed out Brar's involvement in anti-India activities, emphasizing his links with the banned Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International and his self-confessed role in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. He also linked Pakistan’s influence in supporting Khalistani extremism in Canada, highlighting strong ties between Pakistani agencies and extremist elements worldwide, which he suspects influence Canada as well.

Verma lamented Canada’s stance since the Nijjar incident, alleging that Canada provided no evidence in accusations connecting Indian officials to Nijjar’s death. He added that the situation felt politically motivated, noting that India maintains a strict non-interference policy in other nations’ internal matters. Recalled amid rising tensions after Nijjar’s death, Verma reiterated his duty to safeguard India’s interests.

Relations between the two nations deteriorated after Prime Minister Trudeau suggested India’s possible involvement in Nijjar's killing in a 2022 Canadian parliamentary session. India has firmly dismissed the accusations, condemning Canada's tolerance of anti-India elements.
