Trump Declares Ceasefire Between Iran and Israel, Iran Denies Deal Amid Fresh Attacks

Iran Israel ceasefire latest news updates: US president Donald Trump’s ceasefire announcement between Iran and Israel came after an American base in Qatar was attacked by Iran following the U.S.'s strike on key Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, with its "great B-2 pilots." Trump earlier claimed that “monumental damage was done to all nuclear sites in Iran.”

Calling Iran's response to the U.S. attack “very weak,” Trump stated in a post on the Truth Social platform, about 10 hours ago at the time of filing this report,
“Iran has officially responded to our obliteration of their nuclear facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was ‘set free,’ because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction.”

He also claimed that “no Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their ‘system,’ and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE.”
Hinting at the early notice Iran may have given the U.S. before the attack on U.S. bases in Qatar, he stated,“I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to peace and harmony in the region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same.”
In a follow-up post, he also thanked the Emir of Qatar for “everything he has done in seeking peace for the region.”
In the same post, he stated, “I am pleased to report that, in addition to no Americans being killed or wounded, very importantly, there have also been no Qataris killed or wounded.”

In an immediate follow-up post, he made a cryptic statement, “CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!”
Two hours later, he made the official announcement, congratulating everyone that a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE” had been agreed upon between Iran and Israel and that the ceasefire would begin with Iran.
His announcement came hours after Iran’s attack on U.S. bases in Qatar.

In the big announcement, he stated,“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in-progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the war will be considered ENDED!”
“Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th hour, an official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both the countries, Israel and Iran, on having the stamina, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR.’”

Iran has responded to the ceasefire, according to The Wire report. Iranian state television announced the ceasefire on state-run media early today.
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that there is no agreement on any ceasefire.

Araghchi wrote on X, six hours ago,“As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around. As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later.”

Trump, on June 22, after the U.S.'s attack on Iran’s key nuclear facilities, had warned:
“ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT.”

However, Iran did retaliate by attacking the U.S. base in Qatar.

Trump also commented on regime change in Iran earlier on June 23.

He posted on X, “It’s not politically correct to use the term ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a regime change??? MIGA!!!”

Latest development: Now, in his latest post on Truth Social on June 24, he declared, “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!”

However, the post came amid reports of Iran’s continued missile attacks on Israel, with the Israeli Defense Forces issuing several alerts of missile launches from Iran on Tuesday morning (IST).

The official X account of the State of Israel, in a post, stated, “Following this morning’s ballistic missile attack by the Iranian regime on Be'er Sheva – as of 07:45 (local time):
• 4 confirmed fatalities
• 2 moderately injured
• 20 with minor injuries
Search and rescue efforts are ongoing.”

In a separate earlier post, it posted, “In the aftermath of this morning’s deadly ballistic missile attack by the Iranian regime on Be’er Sheva, IDF Home Front Command teams rescued an elderly woman from the rubble.”

Where it all began? The conflict began on June 13 when Israel launched a massive airstrike on Iranian military and nuclear sites named “Operation Rising Lion.” In retaliation, Iran launched “Operation True Promise 3.”
Tensions escalated further when the U.S. joined the conflict and launched attacks on Iran’s key nuclear facilities.
