In the aftermath of Tuesday’s horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, the United States on Wednesday issued a travel advisory, urging its citizens to "avoid going to Kashmir."
The advisory, published on the official website of the US Embassy and Consulates in India, stated, “Terrorist attacks and violent civil unrest are possible in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Do not travel to this state (with the exception of visits to the eastern Ladakh region and its capital, Leh).”
Following the attack, there has been a mass exodus of tourists from the Kashmir Valley. Several airlines have also issued travel alerts, advising passengers to reconsider or postpone their plans to the region.
On Tuesday, a brutal terror attack took place in Baisaran Meadows near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the lives of 28 Indian tourists. The attackers reportedly opened fire on unarmed civilians.
Initial investigations by Indian security agencies suggest that at least three of the attackers were Pakistani nationals, further escalating tensions between the two nations. The attack has drawn strong condemnation both domestically and internationally, with leaders around the world expressing their solidarity with India.
