Migrant Rights Network Reveals Alarming Figures Despite Trudeau's Executive Order

Canada Deportations Latest News

Canada Deportations Latest News: In a significant development, Canada has witnessed a notable surge in deportations, with 7,032 individuals expelled from the country in the year 2023, as disclosed by the Migrant Rights Network. This revelation comes despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's 2021 executive order advocating for a regularization program, signaling a tightening stance on Canada's immigration policies.

The Migrant Rights Network, in its recent report, highlighted that an average of 39 individuals per day faced deportation in the first half of 2023. This stark increase reflects a substantial escalation compared to the daily deportation figures of 23 in 2022 and 21 in 2021. The tightening of Canada's immigration system seems to be impacting a large number of immigrants, leading to an upswing in deportation rates.

CBSA's Confirmation of Deportation Figures

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) corroborated the Migrant Rights Network's findings, stating that 7032 individuals have been deported from Canada in 2023 alone. This number surpasses the deportation figures recorded in both 2021 and 2022. The data, obtained through a right to information request, sheds light on the magnitude of the current deportation trend.

In response to the escalating deportation numbers, Canada's Federal Immigration Minister Mark Miller recently announced plans to provide an opportunity for millions of individuals living in Canada without proper documents and facing deportation to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency. This move is aimed at addressing the complexities surrounding undocumented residents and offering a pathway towards legal status. As the deportation rates continue to rise, concerns are growing within the immigrant community, prompting a reevaluation of Canada's immigration policies.
