ISLAMABAD: Union Minister of Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor has died in a road accident at Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The police said that the incident occurred on Saturday. Meanwhile, the minister's car collided with a vehicle. After which he was taken to Polyclinic Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Significantly, Shakoor was a senior member of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F), which is the part of the ruling coalition. Home Minister Rana Sanaullah has ordered a complete investigation in the matter.

Police have taken five accused into custody and investigation has been initiated. According to the police, the Union Minister was driving the car himself. 

People are paying tributes to Pak Union Minister Abdul Shakoor on social media. After the incident, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif also expressed grief and said that it is very sad that a practical scholar, an ideological political activist and a good person has passed away like this. Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi also expressed deep grief over the minister's demise and paid tribute to him.
