Another batch of 200 Indian fishermen will be released from Karachi jail on June 2

KARACHI: Pakistani Authorities have decided to release 500 Indian prisoners of which 499 are fishermen who have completed their sentences. Indian prisoners will be released from jails in phases. The first batch of 200 prisoners was released from Malir District Jail on Thursday and sent to Lahore.

According to a report, the Edhi Foundation will facilitate the transport of Azad Indian citizens to Lahore by train and they will be handed over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah border on Friday. Another batch of 200 Indian fishermen will be released from Karachi jail on June 2.

Notably, Arrangements will also be made to send them to India. ARY News reported that the third batch of 100 Indian prisoners will be released on July 3 and repatriated. The report said that Pakistan and India routinely arrest and send each other's fishermen to jail for violating the maritime boundary.
