Nepal police Arrests 10 Indians for Illegally obtaining Citizenship

KATHMANDU: 10 Indian citizens, including three women, have been arrested on charges of obtaining Nepalese citizenship illegally by showing fake documents. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravindra Regmi said that the team of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Indian nationals from different parts of Kathmandu on Saturday. All of them are from Bihar.

Among the arrested persons, seven are men and three are women. Kathmandu Valley Police Office revealed their identity on Sunday. Regmi said that the Indian nationals obtained certificates of Nepali citizenship from the district administration offices of Rupandehi, Bara and Parsa districts by showing fake documents.

According to the media reports, the police said that the arrested people had been living in Nepal for a long time and some of them had been settled in the country since 2006. The arrest has taken place after three months of investigation. These persons were doing a business of making sweets and were running a sweet shop in Nepal.
