Canadians Cancel Travel to US Amid Trump-Trudeau Spat Over Tariffs

Donald Trump vs Justin Trudeau Amid US Canada Trade War Latest News: Amid rising tensions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over tariffs, a significant number of Canadian travelers are opting to cancel their trips to the U.S.

According to industry experts, bookings for leisure travel to the U.S. by Canadians have seen a sharp decline of 40% between November 2024 and February 2025. Additionally, 20% of previously made bookings have been canceled as a direct consequence of the diplomatic rift.

The dispute between Trump and Trudeau over tariffs has fueled anti-U.S. sentiment among Canadian travelers, prompting them to explore alternative destinations. Many Canadians are now choosing to visit Mexico, Europe, Vietnam, Portugal, and other Eastern countries instead of traveling to the U.S.

Experts believe that unless tensions between the two leaders ease, this shift in travel preferences could continue, affecting the U.S. tourism industry, particularly in states that rely heavily on Canadian visitors.
