Australia Senator Varun Ghosh Takes Oath on Bhagavad Gita: Indian-origin Australian Senator Varun Ghosh has scripted history as he took oath on the holy Bhagavad Gita. 
The Labor Party has selected Varun Ghosh to represent Western Australia in the Senate of the Federal Parliament. Recently Varun Ghosh, a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers, was chosen to replace current senator Patrick Dodson.

According to news agency IANS, Ghosh joined the Labor Party in Perth at the age of 17.

On his selection Varun Ghosh said, "I was fortunate to have a good education and I strongly believe that high quality education and training should be available to everyone." 

Penny Wong congratulated Varun Ghosh:

Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong also congratulated Varun Ghosh through a post on social media. 

She wrote, “Welcome to our new senator Varun Ghosh from Western Australia. Senator Ghosh is the first Australian senator to take oath on the Bhagavad Gita. I have often said that when you are the first to do something, you have to make sure you are not the last.”
