Trump-Putin Phone Call: “Not a Conversation That Will Lead to Immediate Peace”; Putin to Respond to Ukraine’s Recent Attack
Trump-Putin Phone Call latest news: U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone on June 4. The call lasted for one hour and 15 minutes; however, the conversation was not considered fruitful or likely to lead to immediate peace.
During the call, the two leaders discussed Ukraine’s attack on Russian docked aircraft and other ongoing attacks “taking place on both sides.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) informing the public about the conversation, President Trump said, “President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields by Ukraine.”

The two leaders also discussed Iran. Trump stated, “We also discussed Iran, and the fact that time is running out on Iran’s decision pertaining to nuclear weapons, which must be made quickly! I stated to President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and on this, I believe that we were in agreement.”

Trump further wrote that President Putin suggested he would participate in discussions with Iran and might “be helpful in bringing this to a rapid conclusion.”
“It is my opinion that Iran has been slow-walking their decision on this very important matter, and we will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time!” he added.

Since taking office in January 2025, President Trump has been consistently urging both warring nations to pursue peace.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Wednesday, commented that if Russia had accepted Kyiv’s offer of a ceasefire, the drone strike on Russian airfields would not have occurred.
