The impact of this natural disaster reverberated as far as New Delhi, approximately 550 kilometers from the earthquake's epicenter.

In the district of Jajarkot, numerous houses were flattened or severely damaged as the earthquake struck late on Friday night. Videos from the scene depicted crumbled facades of multi-storied brick houses, with substantial pieces of furniture strewn amid the debris.

Nepal's Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal, expressed his deep condolences over the human and physical toll inflicted by the earthquake. All helicopter operators in Nepal have been placed on standby, and regular flight operations have been temporarily suspended to facilitate the airlifting of the injured from the affected areas. The Nepalese army has also been deployed to assist in search and rescue efforts.

The powerful earthquake, with its epicenter located in Lamidanda, Jajarkot district, occurred at precisely 11:47 pm according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center.

Following the seismic event, moderate tremors were felt in various parts of northern India, including Lucknow, Chandigarh & Jaipur.

Nepal, situated in the seismically active Himalayan region, has encountered numerous earthquakes throughout its history. In 2015, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of approximately 9,000 people and caused significant damage to nearly one million structures, highlighting the vulnerability of the region to such natural disasters.
