India drops to 161st spot in World Press Freedom Index

NEW-DELHI: India's ranking in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index has dropped 11 places to 161, stated recently released report. In 2022, the country was ranked 150 out of 180 countries. Norway, Ireland and Denmark occupied the top three spots, while Vietnam, China and North Korea finished at the bottom of the list.

Media associations of the country have expressed concern over the 2023 World Press Freedom Index report published today. Expressing concern in the report, it is said that the situation in three countries, Tajikistan, India and Turkey, has become 'worse'. Tajikistan is down one place at 153, India is down 11 places from 2022's 150 to 161 and Turkey is down 16 places to 165.
