Freight Train-Passenger Train Collision in Netherlands

The Hague: A Head-on collision took place between a passenger train and a freight train in Netherlands on Tuesday. One died and 30 people suffered critical injuries in the accident. The passenger train was carrying at least 50 people.

According to the information received, fire also broke out after the collision between the train and the freight train, due to which the situation became more serious. Reportedly, the accident took place near the town of Voorschoten near The Hague at 3:25 am, when the train was going from Leiden to The Hague. Due to a heavy collision with a freight train, the front coach of the train derailed and fell into a field. After which, fire broke out in the back bogie. However, it was later controlled. 

A notice from emergency services said rescue teams were at the scene of the crash near Voorschoten, a village between Leiden and The Hague. Meanwhile, Dutch Railways (NS) said in a tweet that trains between parts of Leiden and The Hague have been canceled due to the accident.
