"No Room Left" for Canada or Mexico to escape says Donald Trump latest news: US President Donald Trump has assured that there is "no room left" for Canada or Mexico to escape the US tariffs that will be implemented on March 4. In a Monday investment announcement, Trump said that the tariffs are "all set and are going to effect" as scheduled.
In early February, Trump ordered 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, as well as a further 10% on products from China. On February 4, he suspended the tariffs on Mexico and Canada for 30 days on the grounds of new promises from the two nations to enhance border security. But Trump has now decided to go ahead with the tariffs, saying that there is still smuggling of illegal drugs, especially fentanyl, from Canada and Mexico.
Trump also posted a message on Truth Social, calling on American farmers to gear up for higher domestic sales of farm products since tariffs on foreign products will become effective on April 2. He reiterated that drugs must be halted or greatly curtailed from entering the US, noting that the imposed tariffs will come into effect as planned.
Aside from the tariffs imposed on Canada and Mexico, China will also be hit with an additional 10% tariff beginning on March 4. Trump emphasized that the April 2 reciprocal tariff deadline will be in full force and effect.
