Karachi: At least 12 people died in a stampede in the city of Karachi, Pakistan on Friday. The incident took place in a factory premises during food distribution. The dead include 8 women and 3 children. According to media reports, the police were also present at the spot, but they escaped as soon as the stampede broke out.

Last week, there were some incidents of stampede during the distribution of free flour by the government in the Punjab province of Pakistan. 12 people have lost their lives in that incident. Three women were also included in them. Eyewitnesses have said that a large number of people had gathered to get free ration. 

During the stampede, the electric wire broke and fell on people. Some people died due to electrocution. Nine dead bodies have been brought to Abbasi Hospital in Karachi. 29 people are seriously injured. The death toll is expected to rise. These days, the holy month of Ramadan is going on. In all countries of the world, Muslims fast along with offering prayers.
