Bangladesh News: Preparations are currently underway in Purbachal, Bangladesh, to receive Tarique Rahman, who is returning to the country tomorrow after living in exile in London for 17 years, ANI reported.
According to ANI, Tarique Rahman is the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the son of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and former President Ziaur Rahman.
BNP leaders and activists from across the country have already started arriving at the reception venue, the report said.
Yesterday, Former Ambassador of India to Bangladesh, Veena Sikri, in a conversation with ANI said that Begum Khaleda Zia is very “ill and no longer able to be in charge,” which was why her son Tarique Rahman is returning.
Veena Sikri added that Tarique Rahman is coming back for the election. Anticipating, Veena Sikri said if the security situation in the country deteriorates, Rahman might not come, citing the volatile situation.
